Dr Frank Craig
Dr Frank Craig brings over 35 years of international life sciences leadership to Avigen’s advisory board. His career spans senior executive roles at GlaxoSmithKline and Amersham Biosciences (now GE Healthcare Life Sciences), where he served as Vice-President of Research & Development, and includes a pivotal role in the commercial development of Green Fluorescent Protein — a breakthrough technology recognised by the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
A serial entrepreneur and operator, Dr Craig co-founded Aurora Biosciences (San Diego), which reached a peak market capitalisation of £1.8 billion before its acquisition by Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and went on to co-found and lead Sphere Fluidics (Cambridge) as founding CEO, building it into an internationally recognised single-cell analysis business. Across his career he has raised approximately £85 million in equity and debt financing and structured commercial partnerships with major global life sciences firms totalling £180 million in recorded deal value.
His deep expertise in microfluidics and cell-based instrumentation makes him a uniquely well-suited advisor to Avigen, with direct experience scaling the kind of platform business Avigen is building. He currently chairs BioChannel Partners Ltd, advising early-stage life sciences ventures on commercial strategy and growth.
