Dr Sam Au
Dr Sam Au is a Principal Investigator and Senior Lecturer in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, where he also serves as the founding director of the CRUK Microfabrication Facility. With a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Dr Au further advanced his expertise during his time at Harvard Medical School, collaborating with Professor Mehmet Toner under the prestigious Tosteson Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Dr Au's research focuses on developing next-generation microfluidic devices for cancer applications, resulting in seven first-author publications in the field. As the newly appointed director of the MRes in Medical Device and Entrepreneurship programme at Imperial, he is dedicated to translating scientific innovations into real-world solutions that improve patient outcomes. This drive has also led to the launch of two spin-out projects within his group.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr Au contributes to the industry as a board member for Beyond Blood Diagnostics. His scientific expertise will play a crucial role in shaping Avigen’s R&D strategy and technological development, ensuring the company delivers impactful solutions for industry applications.
